Moisture Tube 3 with Filter Cloth
Introducing
MT3 Moisture Tube with a new Filter Cloth:
My Moisture tube was already designed to remove moisture before entering the bag and now is fitted with HELIX 180 Filter Cloth which is the world’s most breathable, multi-functional air filter cloth designed to capture harmful particulate matter.
The HELIX.iso™ Filter, an innovative natural wool filter that harnesses the unique properties of New Zealand wool. With this filter in the MT3 you get a high level of protection from airborne viruses like Coronavirus. The wool used in the HELIX Filter Cloth is environmentally sustainable, naturally resistant to bacteria with excellent moisture wicking properties.
The HELIX 180 Filter Cloth used in the MT3 takes out 99% of particles and viruses larger than 0.3 microns and is made from natural Merino sheep wool.

Pipers, using this cloth can play with every confidence – and their audience can enjoy the performance too, safe in the knowledge that viruses are filtered out to greatly reduce any virus transmission while the piper plays.
In addition to filtering out viruses and particles, the clean air also results in more clarity in the overall sound of the instrument.
The MT3 system is produced with purposely designed and manufactured lightweight components. It comes with a spare cloth in a wash bag.
Your breath can range from about 70% to 96% humidity and on average is around 33˚C/91˚F. When blowing into your bag it condenses and produces moisture. When hot air meets any reflection or obstacle it causes the hotter air to condense. The built-in air reductions and the cloth in the cartridge results in the air cooling and condensing before being expelled throw the Helix Filter Cloth into the bag.
Fitting your bagpipe with a water trap is absolutely essential to reduce the amount of moisture getting to your reeds. It also reflexes your hot, moist breath to the back of the bag and away from your reeds. My Moisture Tube has been specifically designed as an effective, lightweight, moisture control system that works without the use of silica gels.
Description
Description
This brand-new product is designed and produced to extract, minimize, and reduce moisture before it enters your pipe bag including a Filter Cloth from a special strip of fine Merino wool that absorbs the piper’s warm breath and the nano filter traps water and particles, including bacteria, viruses, and the coronavirus.
It is made up of a lightweight flexible tube connected to a compression cartridge. Warm, mouth-blown air flows through the tube and when passing through the cartridge it is compressed, causing the warm air to cool and humidify within the cylinder. The cartridge is fitted with the new breathable cloth which can help with the air compression and to absorb excess moisture. The system is very easy to remove and fit. It is easily dismantled allowing for speedy and efficient cleaning.
NOTE: After a playing session, it is imperative that you remove the Filter Cloth and allow it to dry naturally. This is to ensure the cloth dry’s completely killing all viruses.

Installing the Moisture Tube (M3)
A tight fit of the MT3 is essential to optimize the benefits of the system. Do not separate the stock connector from the flexi-tube.
To ensure a tight fit, apply waxed hemp to the stock connector and then insert it (complete with its flexi-tube) firmly into the bottom of the blowpipe stock. An easy way to do this is to remove the blow pipe itself and hemp the stock connector up to the outside end of the blowpipe stock. It may take some adjustment until you are satisfied with the connection. You are now ready to fit the cartridge section onto the flexi-tube.
If using a split stock install in the normal way.
Cartridge Section
The cartridge section is comprised of two parts – the cartridge itself and the cartridge connector. Push the cartridge onto the cartridge connector. These parts should be kept intact unless you wish to remove the cloth to dry. To remove the cartridge section from the cartridge connector, grasp the cartridge and gently twist apart from the cartridge connector.
Between playing times keep the stock connector and flexi-tube in place (as one piece) in your pipe bag and remove the cartridge section.
Cartridge/Cloth and Air Reductions
The system has a number of built in air reductions.
1. The smaller diameter bore through the cartridge connector.
2. The grill inserted into the end of the cartridge connector.
3. The series of small holes in the cartridge itself. These holes should always be facing upwards in your bag.
Anti-Virus Filter Cloth for Moisture Tube
This product is a special strip of fine Merino wool that absorbs the piper’s warm breath and the nano filter traps water and particles, including bacteria, viruses and the coronavirus.
Simply insert the wool filter cloth into the cartridge before you play. Make sure all the holes in the cartridge are covered to prevent air entering the bag without first passing through the filter cloth. The cloth is very breathable and absorbent.
After playing, remove the cloth, lay it flat and allow to dry naturally. Ensure there is not too much direct heat as this could result in a little shrinkage.
Washing should be kept to a minimum. If you know you do not have a virus, washing the cloth once a week is probably sufficient, along with cleaning the complete system.
If you have or suspect having a cold or virus you should take the precautions of sanitising more often. If possible, put the tube and filter out in the sun to dry. Sunlight is known to kill bacteria and viruses.
If you need to wash the cloth, use the wash bag proved. It can be washed in a normal washing machine (gentle cycle) setting. Treat these filters like your most beloved wool sweater. Never expose them to too much direct heat (like in a clothes dryer) and allow to dry naturally.
All viruses that are transmitted in the air thrive on moisture. Pipers, when using this cloth can play with every confidence – and their audience can enjoy the performance too, safe in the knowledge that viruses are filtered out to greatly reduce any virus transmission while the piper plays.
In addition to filtering out viruses and particles, the clean air also results in more clarity in the overall sound of the instrument.
NOTE: After a playing session, it is imperative that you remove the Filter Cloth and allow it to dry naturally. This is to ensure the cloth dry’s completely killing all viruses.
