Thank you for the tune, very beautiful. I’m a combat veteran of Grenada, El Salvador and the Gulf. Certain tunes will hit home and I never know why until we find out the history of that tune. I’ve played The Bells of Dunblane for a few years and just found out it’s history. Now when I play it, it has meaning. Anyway Thank you for your playing, this newsletter and your service.
Hi Timothy, I was digging the garden on the day of the Dunblane killings. Funny how you remember what you were doing on the days of these tragedies. All hand guns have been banned in the UK since then. All the best and thank you also for your service.

I play my pipes along the shore of Lake Erie, and almost every time I play the eagles fly out of the nearby nest as soon as I begin to play. I always thought it was because they don’t like the sound of the bagpipes! It seems better to think that they are just taking my music to the Heavens, and carrying the thoughts and prayers to our Lord.
Hi Kathleen, some believe that eagles carry the sprits and that when you see a eagle you get to make a wish. They could be attracted to the pure harmonics of the bagpipe which were of course used by native people in their music.
Thanks for reading the NL and for replying. Bruce
Good to hear the first six notes of the Earl of Seaforth as a warm-up! I’d hear the name of “The Sands” before, but never the tune. Very nice indeed.
Thanks Gibby, you need to have outstanding G’s to do justice to the Earl of Seaforth which means you need a good 7 harmonic of the bass drone to get the right resonance.

Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. We did the Berlin Tattoo in i think 1989, maybe one of the last Military run Tattoos their. We had both the Strathclyde and Lothian Borders Police Bands along with a number of Army Bands.
Cheers Bruce

Nice to hear from you Mike. Will trained eagles here in Arizona. What are the chances of a eagle soaring overhead as i play the tribute. Great stuff.
